There are two ways to change your cPanel password, and the difference is simple: one needs the current one, the other does not.

| The consequence that catches almost everyone: the cPanel password is also the account's main FTP password. The moment you change it, your FTP program, your backup plugin and any system that publishes files automatically stop working. Update them the same day, or you will find backups quietly not happening. |
