Switching from SonicPanel to VoxStream or back: what changes and what to take

VPS & Servers·· 43 views· 4 min read

The short answer: you choose the panel when you order. If you later want to move from SonicPanel to VoxStream, or the other way round, you can: ask through a support ticket in My MozOut and our team makes the switch by hand, just like the setup. The plan does not change (space, maximum quality, unlimited listeners and traffic). The panel changes, and the sign-in details may change with it. And there are things you must take with you, because you should not count on them moving by themselves: the music, the jingles, the recordings and the way your schedule is organised.

What stays and what changes

What When you switch panels
Plan, AutoDJ space, maximum quality, unlimited listeners and traffic, SSL certificate Stays the same. They belong to the plan, not the panel.
Panel address, user name and password Change: it is another panel. You get the new details by e-mail.
Server address, port and broadcast password May change. Every DJ has to update their broadcasting program.
Listening link and your site’s player May change. The player code comes from the new panel, and your site, app and shared links point to the new link.
Music, jingles and ads Keep a copy on your computer to upload to the new panel.
Playlists, schedules, the programme grid Rebuilt in the new panel, which organises things its own way.
DJ accounts Recreated, with a new password for each DJ.
Recordings, statistics, reports of songs played Download them first. One panel’s history cannot be read in the other.
Moving to VoxStream You lose FLAC and OGG (AAC+ and MP3 remain), the Shoutcast or Icecast choice, the live DJ widget and automatic recording of live shows.
Moving to SonicPanel You lose Programs and Short Segments, time announcements, WebDJ and the studio camera. You gain FLAC and OGG.

Switching without losing anything

1 List what you use today (formats, DJs, recordings, Short Segments) and check in SonicPanel or VoxStream that the other panel has what you need.
2 Download what is yours: music, jingles, ads and recordings. Export the statistics and reports you want to keep.
3 Write down the schedule: which playlist plays when, which DJ has which slot. That is what you will rebuild.
4 Ask for the switch in a support ticket in My MozOut: say which station, which panel you want and a quiet time to do it.
5 When the e-mail with the new details arrives, sign in, upload the music, rebuild the playlists, recreate the DJs and get the AutoDJ playing. Listen on a phone. Moving to VoxStream, see first steps with VoxStream; moving to SonicPanel, first steps with SonicPanel.
6 Update everything that points at the station: each DJ’s broadcasting program, your site’s player, the app and the links you have shared. Tell your listeners if the link changes.
Do not delete anything on the old side until the new one is playing and confirmed. And allow for the station being off air for a while during the switch: pick a low-audience time and tell your team.
Fewer places to update: if the listening link sits on an address of your own domain, what listeners saved does not change, only the record behind it. See pointing a subdomain to another service.
