WHM is not an advanced version of cPanel, nor a replacement for My MozOut. It is the panel for people who administer other people's accounts — resellers and server owners.
The three levels, in order
Who has WHM
| If you have... | WHM? | What you use |
| Shared hosting | No | $P and cPanel |
| Reseller hosting | Yes | $P, WHM and each client's cPanel |
| VPS or dedicated with cPanel installed | Yes | $P, WHM and cPanel |
| VPS with no panel | No | $P and the command line |
What WHM does that nothing else does
| You do not edit anyone's site in WHM. To touch a client's files or e-mail you go into that account's cPanel — one click away from WHM. WHM creates and administers; cPanel is where the work happens. |
WHM lives at yourserver:2087 . If you are starting out, see first steps as a reseller .
| Not everyone needs this. If you have one site, or five of your own, shared hosting with cPanel is enough. WHM makes sense when the sites belong to your clients and each needs their own access. |
