First steps as a reseller (WHM)

A reseller plan gives you something a normal hosting account doesn't: WHM, where you create and manage cPanel accounts for your own clients, each isolated from the others.

Getting in

1 Go to https://yourdomain.com:2087 — note the port 2087, which is WHM. Port 2083 is the normal cPanel.
2 Sign in with the reseller username and password we sent you when the plan was activated.

First thing to do: create a package

A package is the template of limits you'll reuse for every client — disk, bandwidth, mailboxes, databases.

1 In WHM, open PackagesAdd a Package.
2 Give it a name your clients will see on their invoices, and set the limits. Keep them inside what your own reseller plan allows — you cannot give away more than you have.
3 Save. You can create as many packages as you sell.

Creating a client account

1 Account FunctionsCreate a New Account.
2 Fill in the client's domain, a username and the contact e-mail, and choose the package you created.
3 Create. cPanel sends the client their access details automatically.

Day-to-day

1 List Accounts — see everything you host, log in to any account, suspend or unsuspend.
2 Modify an Account — change a client's package when they grow.
3 Terminate an Account — permanent, and it deletes the client's data. Take a backup first.
What is yours and what is ours. You are responsible for supporting your own clients — they are your customers, not ours, and we don't deal with them directly. We support you: server, network, and anything above the reseller account.
Selling more than your plan allows? Overselling is possible in WHM but risky — if every client used their full quota, the server would run out. Only oversell what you can honestly cover, and upgrade when your real usage approaches the limit.

Need help setting up your first packages? We've done it many times.
