Which hosting plan for a bakery or catering business: orders, menu and events

Choosing the Right Plan··· 198 views· 3 min read

The short answer: a bakery or caterer sells what you can see and what is ordered in advance. The site is light, with many food photos, and the entry plan is enough. What makes the difference is saying clearly what is available, how far ahead to order and how.

What weighs, and what does not

Part of the site What to do
Products and menus Photo, name, size or portion and price as text. For events, packages with the number of people.
Lead times Say how far ahead you need an order (a cake, a buffet) and the days with no production. It saves pointless contact.
Orders By WhatsApp, with the product name in the message: Putting WhatsApp on your site. The WhatsApp Business catalogue helps: The WhatsApp Business catalogue.
Allergens and ingredients True information, in view. Rules on labelling and allergens vary by country: check yours, and if in doubt write “ask us”.
Photographs Good natural light, the same table and background. Shrink them: Image optimisation.

How to choose, step by step

1 Start with the entry plan and a site with products, events, about us and contact.
2 Update what is available when it changes (day, season, holidays). Pick a tool the team can edit the text with on their own.
3 Create the Google Business Profile, with hours and photos: Being found on Google.

SituationPlanWhy
Start: products and menus with photos, lead times and a WhatsApp buttonPro1 site, 10 GB NVMe SSD and unlimited e-mail accounts on your own domain, for orders and events
Bakery and catering as separate sites, or a shop with paymentsPlus6 sites, 20 GB NVMe SSD and unlimited databases for the shop
A big catalogue, a photo archive of events and several brandsUltra or Businessunlimited sites and 30 to 200 GB NVMe SSD

WHEN TO MOVE UP: Move up when you add delivery and payments on the site (it is already a shop), when the food photos fill the 10 GB (Disk Usage in cPanel shows it), or when the notices to customers in busy seasons reach the 100 e-mails per hour of the Pro plan. Moving up can be done at any time and the site is not lost.

4 If you want delivery and payments on the site, it is already a shop: Which plan for a shop. For a place with tables, see also Which plan for a restaurant.
Do not promise what the kitchen cannot do. A missed deadline on a wedding order costs more than saying “we do not have that date”. Be clear about production limits.
In busy seasons (holidays, year end) orders arrive all at once: a notice on the site with the last day to order avoids many messages.
