Which hosting plan for a law firm, accountant or consultant: credibility, e-mail and confidentiality

Choosing the Right Plan··· 138 views· 3 min read

The short answer: a practice sells trust, and the site is light: one of the first shared plans is enough. What makes the difference is e-mail on your own domain, a page that shows who the people are and care with what clients send you.

What weighs, and what does not

Part of the site What to do
E-mail On the practice’s domain, for everyone on the team. A free address costs credibility. See E-mail inside a hosting plan or a separate e-mail plan.
About us Real names, roles and, where applicable, registration numbers with the professional body. It is what the client checks before calling.
Contact form Say at the top what not to send through it. Test that messages arrive: A contact form that actually reaches your inbox.
Client documents Avoid asking for sensitive documents as ordinary e-mail attachments. Arrange a call first, or use a secure sharing service. See Personal data protection.
Articles and news A block of useful texts helps you get found. See Being found on Google.

How to choose, step by step

1 Start with the entry plan and create the team’s mailboxes.
2 Put the same signature on every e-mail, with name, role, phone and address.
3 Write the privacy policy in plain language and link it from the form.
4 Ask for backups of the site and the e-mail as routine, not only when something goes wrong.
5 Review the plan if you start having a client portal with password access: it is no longer just a presentation site.
Rules on advertising and confidentiality vary by profession and by country. Check with your professional body what you may say on the site (results, prices, comparisons) and how to handle clients’ information.
If the practice serves companies, put the opening hours and a direct contact where they cannot be missed: people who ask a practice for help are usually in a hurry.

SituationPlanWhy
A consultant, or a small practice with one teamPro1 site, 10 GB NVMe SSD, unlimited mailboxes on the practice domain and 100 e-mails per hour
A firm with several teams, or a separate site per area or brandPlus6 sites, 20 GB NVMe SSD and 200 e-mails per hour
A large firm with long mailbox archives and many sitesUltra or Businessunlimited sites, 30 GB and 300 e-mails per hour on Ultra, and 50 to 200 GB on Business

WHEN TO MOVE UP: the mailboxes are unlimited on every plan, so the signs are the disk filling with years of mail and attachments, a second site for another area, or invoices and notices touching the hourly ceiling (100 on Pro, 200 on Plus, 300 on Ultra). Changing plan keeps the site and the mailboxes, and the daily automatic backup is on every plan, with restores at no cost.
