Short names are the most sought after — quick to type, easy to say over the phone without spelling, and they fit on any card. Which is exactly why, on Mozambican extensions, a name of 1 to 3 characters is not registered automatically.
Why it is different
An ordinary name goes live in minutes. A 1-to-3-character name must be approved by the national registry before it can exist. This covers .co.mz, .org.mz, .net.mz, .ac.mz and .edu.mz.
How the request goes

You place the request as you would for any other domain.

Instead of going to automatic registration, it goes to the national registry for review.

The answer takes up to 3 working days. We tell you as soon as there is a decision.

If approved, the domain goes live as usual. If not, we let you know and sort out what you paid.

Do not build a deadline around it. If you have a launch, a campaign or printed material on the way, do not schedule them around a short name that is still awaiting approval.

A practical way round it register a longer version of the name as well. That keeps the site up while the short name is under review, and afterwards you simply point one at the other.
