For a new blog, the entry plan is enough. A blog is one of the lightest things you can put online: text, a few images and a small database. What makes it heavy is not the number of posts, it is what you pile on top: oversized images, many plugins and a crowd that arrives all in the same minute. Buy the plan for what the blog is today, and move up when the numbers in the panel ask for it, not before.
What decides a blog’s plan
| Question | Why it matters |
| How many blogs will you run? | One fits any plan. Two or three, each with its own domain, call for a plan that counts sites. The column to read is on the hosting plans page. |
| What images do you publish? | Photos straight from the camera take space and load slowly. Resizing them before uploading saves more than a bigger plan. See image optimisation and WebP. |
| How many plugins? | Every plugin runs on every visit. A blog with few plugins and a page cache carries far more people than one with twenty plugins and no cache. |
| Do you expect peaks? | A social media share or a press mention brings hundreds of people in the same minute. What counts is the peak, not the monthly total. |
Getting started, step by step

|
| A slow blog rarely needs a bigger plan. Nearly always it is a multi-megabyte image on the home page, a heavy theme or a plugin calling an outside service. Changing plan hides the problem for a few months and then it comes back, dearer. Measure first: the site is slow, what to measure before you change plan. |
| If the blog turns into a business (adverts, a shop, a members area), review the plan that same day, because the kind of visit changes. A blog people only read is light; one with accounts and purchases is not. |
